{"id":73,"date":"2009-09-25T06:15:52","date_gmt":"2009-09-25T11:15:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.christophergronlund.com\/blog\/tjw\/?p=73"},"modified":"2009-10-04T22:24:33","modified_gmt":"2009-10-05T03:24:33","slug":"everyday-mantra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.christophergronlund.com\/blog\/tjw\/2009\/09\/25\/everyday-mantra\/","title":{"rendered":"Every Day Mantra"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.christophergronlund.com\/blog\/tjw\/images\/hourglasses1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"356\" \/>I used to have this saying written on the white board in my office:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Every day I don\u2019t write is another day I have to go to work.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I wrote it one morning when I <em>really<\/em> didn&#8217;t want to go in to the day job.<\/p>\n<p>If I sat down to read <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boingboing.net\/\">Boingboing<\/a> or watch <a href=\"http:\/\/tv.winelibrary.com\/\">Wine Library TV<\/a> before writing, I was reminded that my actions meant I\u2019d have another day at the office in the long run. If I goofed off and didn&#8217;t use my time wisely, it reminded me that each morning I woke up and had to go to the day job was my own fault.<\/p>\n<p>I started repeating the phrase before going to bed. When I woke up tempted to hit the snooze button on the alarm, I conditioned myself to say it before dozing back to sleep.<\/p>\n<p>It got me out of bed.<\/p>\n<p>It kept me writing in the mornings until writing became a habit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What statements or quotes motivate you to keep writing?<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I used to have this saying written on the white board in my office: Every day I don\u2019t write is another day I have to go to work.
