While I have a bit of a hard time speaking up for my own writing, I have no problems promoting others doing things I like and believe in.<\/p>\n

Meet Mark Hosack<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The first time I met Mark Hosack<\/a> I thought, “Okay, maybe my haircut ISN’T so bad after all!”<\/p>\n

It was a kickoff meeting for the crew of a movie he had written and was directing called Pale Blue Moon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mark went on to write other movies<\/a>, (NSFW trailer for Give Em Hell Malone) — and because editing, writing, and occasionally directing movies isn’t enough (as well as raising a couple kids), Mark decided, “Hell…think I’ll write a book!”<\/p>\n

And he made a book trailer for his book…even though…well, you’ll have to watch it!<\/p>\n

A Good Example of Generating Early Buzz<\/strong><\/h2>\n

I’m not saying this because I like Mark: I have only seen one or two book trailers that made me actually care about a book. I don’t know why, but most book trailers seem made just because that’s what you’re supposed to do — and it often shows. I share the first book trailer for Mark’s soon-to-be book in part because he’s a friend. Of course I’m going to support a friend.<\/p>\n

But it’s also a damn good example of what we can all do with very little to generate early buzz for the things we’re working on…<\/p>\n
