\"\"A year ago today, I was laid off<\/a> from the longest job I\u00a0 ever held.<\/p>\n

I planned to leave last summer; they unknowingly moved the date up 6 or 7 months.<\/p>\n

The year following every layoff I’ve ever had has always been productive and fun.<\/p>\n

This past year has been the best!<\/p>\n

The Year in Pictures<\/strong><\/h2>\n

We actually had the first white Christmas I’ve ever seen in my 26 years in Texas, and we had a real snow day later in the year.<\/p>\n

But we also endured heat!<\/p>\n

The 100 degree Tuesday was a relief!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

And geckos!<\/p>\n

I love these things!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I ate a lot of Thai food:<\/p>\n

I could live off of Thai curries...<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

And drank a lot of coffee:<\/p>\n

Cappucinno instead of cocoa on a cold day.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I got out and did things:<\/p>\n

Flogging Molly at House of Blues - Dallas.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I even got out of Texas:<\/p>\n

This one's for Steve Hartline!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I attended a couple conferences:<\/p>\n

The Writers League of Texas Agents Conference.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
OpenCamp was a blast!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I summoned the courage to get up in front of people and tell some stories:<\/p>\n

Telling a story at the first Dallas MothUp.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

And I spent a lot of time with my wife:<\/p>\n

All these things made the year following my layoff incredible.<\/p>\n
