It's definitely a case of writing something that helped me, too.

It reminded me that I no longer go out and look at everything as a writer. In some ways, I like that -- I don't need to always be on. Sometimes even travel writers need to just take a vacation without making it work. But I don't think about the potential for articles when I'm out as much as I used to. I don't think about how I'd describe things in a novel as much as I used to. When we stumbled upon the blue man in the grocery store that one day, I need to think about how to quickly describe something unusual like that. (Yes, there's a guy who shops at a local store who is blue...probably ingested colloidal silver.)

As far as the brainstorming sessions...I think I'm due for one maybe next week :)

I thought this was a good entry! I hope it inspires some writers to tap into reserves they didn't realize were there -- especially with types of writing they might not have considered before (articles, like travel pieces, for example).

And I absolutely LOVE our little beer/coffee blog-writing sessions. It's not only fun, it's definitely productive! :)
